Casa Chachalacas
Polished plaster on walls and microcement floors throughout, with hand-executed curves and niches.
Casa Chachalacas is where ArquiVal’s finish work shows best. The whole house carries polished plaster on walls and microcement on floors, with no visible joint between rooms, and curves and niches resolved by hand.
The geometry was the hard part. A straight wall is forgiving: you polish in one direction and the light reads it evenly. A curve is not. Each radius was worked in sections so the veining follows the form instead of fighting it, and the final polish was done with the room’s natural light in place, not under work lights.
The main bathroom concentrates the finest work: a sculptural basin, a continuous surface between wall and vanity, and a heavy-duty sealer given that it is a permanently wet area.
